Trump-Vaughn photo in Oval Office goes viral
Twenty years after Vince Vaughn played a Washington, D.C. divorce lawyer with a penchant for breaking into other people’s parties in Wedding Crashers, the actor returned to the nation’s capital and appeared in a place where his presence was welcomed.
On Friday, the White House’s Twitter account posted a photo of Vaughn standing with smiling President Trump in front of the Resolute Desk. The caption said, “President Donald J. Trump and Vince Vaughn in the Oval Office.”
Photo gets a Hollywood twist
At the same time, this photo was posed as a fantasy movie poster full of the phrase “White House Crashers”.
Vaughn’s visit not in White House schedule
The White House did not officially include Vaughn’s visit in the president’s schedule for the press. Entertainment Weekly has contacted the actor’s representatives for comment.
Previous Trump-Vaughn encounters also under scrutiny
Friday’s photo opportunity was not the first time Vaughn, who identifies as a libertarian, met Trump. In January 2020, during Trump’s first term, Vaughn was seen speaking with Trump and shaking his hand at a college football game.
Both criticism and explanations met
The encounter raised eyebrows on the left, but Vaughn went on to inform the Los Angeles Times that the entire affair had been exaggerated. “In my career I’ve met a lot of politicians that I’ve always been friendly with,” he stated. “I’ve met [former Democratic Speaker of the House] Nancy Pelosi and I’ve been friendly with her as well.”
Vaughn’s political views
As for his own politics, Vaughn explained, “I don’t have a party that I support and that I believe in. In fact, it’s sometimes hard for me to find a candidate that you feel is philosophically sound and who isn’t running just with the person who is financing their specific party. That’s all I’ll say at this point.”
A glimpse at Vaughn’s hits
One of Vaughn’s best-known films, Wedding Crashers, was released in July 2005 and co-starred Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Isla Fisher, Christopher Walken, Jane Seymour and Bradley Cooper. The film made $288 million at the international box office, according to Box Office Mojo.
Role of emotional chef in upcoming film
Some of Vaughn’s other television credits include Swingers, The Break-Up, Four Christmases, True Detective and Bad Monkey. Netflix film Nonnas, where Vaughn stars as a man mourning the death of his mother and opens an Italian restaurant with a cast of only grandmothers as cooks, comes out May 9.
